Tungnath - Chandrashila Peak Trek - Uttrakhand

It is well said that travel can heal us both mentally and physically and location acts as butter in this therapy. The enthusiasm,  feeling of devotion, zeal to reach the peak, dedication motivated us to reach the world's highest Shiva Temple i.e. "Tungnath Temple" and its summit i.e."Chandrashila".Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila are located in Uttrakhand at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft),4000m respectively. The journey to this place was so beautiful and adventurous with a lot of thrilling experiences. Tungnath is one of them in Panch Kedar Temples located on the Tungnath mountain range in Rudraprayag district.

Getting There

We started our journey from Delhi. We took a bus at night around 11:30 pm from Delhi to Rishikesh. You can also hire a taxi to reach directly from Delhi to Chopta as well as from Rishikesh local buses are available to reach Chopta. It was 9 am in the morning we had our favorite aloo paratha breakfast meal and then took the bike at rent from Rishikesh. After setting our gears on the bike we headed towards Chopta via NH7. The distance was around 167km and took us around 6h to reach Chopta.

Travel Tip:

• While planning a trek always carry a Rucksack bag, rather than a trolley bag. If planning to stay at Tungnath, carry winter clothes and dry food as the weather is unpredictable.
• No network during pea
• The best time to visit is between August to November.

One of the incredible places in Uttarakhand, i.e. Tungnath and Chandrashila, actually means “Moon Rock “. It is a utopia for nature and wildlife fanatics. As this place offers tons of exhilarating peak views, it truly reflects nature's charm.
